Email service
The mail service offered by the ITMC can be used by all students and staff members of the University of Rostock. A related user ID is allocated to you when registering at the student secretariat or when starting your employment at the university. Related to this, an email address is provided, which has the form givenname.familyname(at)uni-rostock.de.
Mailbox storage space
5000 MB storage space are available to staff members, students and guests of the University of Rostock for their mailbox on the mailserver. An automated QUOTA warning is issued if 98% of your storage space are occupied. You can only receive emails if there is enough storage space left in your maibox. You may submit an application for storage space expansion at Expaning mailbox.
Spam and virus
All incoming mails are checked by the ITMC for virus and spam.
For virus-infected mails, the content with the infected attachment is removed and replaced by an information of the virus scanner.
The spam filter is switched in for all users and set to a standard value. Changes can be made via a web interface (Spam und Viren).
